Kansas Back the Blue License Plate

Help honor Kansas Fallen Officers with the Back the Blue license plate! College student Sarah Krawcheck won the design contest for our license plate. She did a fabulous job on it! 

Who are these available to?

  • Available to anyone in the public.


  • Motorcycle Plates are also available.

where can i get one / what is the cost?

  • Go to your local DMV and apply for/purchase the plate.
  • $70.50 the first year

        ($30 comes back to KS C.O.P.S.)

  • $30 every year thereafter at renewal. That $30 comes directly to KS C.O.P.S. to assist Survivors of Law Enforcement Line of Duty Death.


how does the plate assist survivors?

  • Transportation reimbursements for family and affected coworkers to C.O.P.S. Survivor Weekends or Surviving to Thriving Conference.
  • Transportation and hotel accommodation reimbursement to National Police Week in Washington D.C. for 1st year survivors. Also available for spouses and children to attend a 2nd time to National Police Week.
  • Travel and lodging expenses provided to National Police Week for KS C.O.P.S. family liaisons to assist first year survivors and agencies.
  • Survivor events during the year to bring our survivors together for fun, bonding and healing with one another.
  • Scholarships for surviving children and spouses in college or trade school.
