   KS COPS Meetings

The next meeting of the Kansas Chapter will be a pool party and cook-out at the home of chapter president Anne McDanel, in Hutchinson, KS.  This will begin at 11 AM on Saturday, August 14th, 2010 at 902 Lochinvar Lane in Hutch.  You can RSVP to this event to let us know you are coming, by either emailing mcdanel902@att.net or calling the McDanels at (62) 662-5431.

The 28th annual Kansas Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony  was observed May 6-7, 2010 on the Statehouse grounds of our state Capitol  in Topeka.

The memorial began with a solemn Candle-light Vigil  at 8:30 PM the evening of Thursday, May 6 at the Law Enforcement Memorial on the statehouse grounds. The Candlelight Vigil is sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary, Topeka #3.

The following day, on Friday, May 7th, the office of Attorney General Steven Six hosted a survivor family reception at 11 AM on the first floor of the Statehouse, south wing.

At Noon on Friday, the Governor Mark Parkinson and Attorney General Steven Six  spoke at the 28th Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony.

This year we gave special tribute to Sedgwick County Sheriff Deputy Brian Etheridge, who was killed in an ambush on September 28, 2009.

   NATIONAL POLICE WEEK

The week of May 9-15, 2010, survivors, fellow officers and others from across the country gathered in Washington D.C. to honor National Police Week.

Fourteen first-year surviving family members from Kansas made the trip for the National ceremony, as well as three support staff from Kansas COPS.
